Abstract
Modernization of the MS3002 gas turbine has been accomplished with the application of advanced technology components in redesigned turbine hot sections. Texas Eastern Pipeline Co. began installing these modernization packages in 1986 in an effort to improve the efficiency and reliability of two under-utilized MS5001s and 15 MS3002s each with more than 135000 operating hours of service. A description is given of Texas Eastern´s motivations to refurbish units more than 30 years old, including details of the uprate installations and subsequent operating experience
