Abstract
Our research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of augmented reality (AR) user interface for an entertainment application - playing card games. Beginner players cannot play games by themselves until they learn game rules well. Our idea to solve this problem is a computer system with AR user interface which intuitively guides game plays in the beginnerspsila view. The authors have applied our idea to a card game called Mate, and evaluated the effectiveness by an experiment with Mate beginner players, It is found that the system could guide beginners with no rule knowledge: they could play Mate games by themselves and won the games at the rate of 64%.
