Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel wall configuration, which consists of two spline-profiled tapers and a few coaxial cavities, for obtaining a multimode horn with both a compact structure and wideband characteristics. Such a mixed profile including the coaxial cavities is optimized over the specified frequency range. A compact circular-aperture horn with two coaxial cavities which has good VSWR characteristics and low cross-polarization component over about 30% bandwidth is presented and its performance is discussed numerically and experimentally
