Abstract :
The paper outlines procedures for creating and evaluation of manufacturing process models. These procedures are devoted mainly for application in CAD/CAM tool kits. The authors propose a modeling method which applies Petri net as representation of manufacturing process model entities. The proposed concept of manufacturing process modeling can be fitted into proved product model concepts. First, the paper presents characteristics of the manufacturing process model from the point of view of creating and evaluation procedures. Motivation and aim of the work are emphasized together with connections with some relevant earlier works of other researchers and the authors. Following this, basic stages of creation and evaluation of model entities for a given manufacturing task are explained. Typical decisions during evaluation of the model, interconnections between model entities and application of the resulted manufacturing process plans are discussed. Finally, important aspects of application of the model and the procedures are concluded
