Abstract :
We report for the first time the use of VCSELs in a fibre optic subcarrier multiplexing system. Encoding of a 200 MBit/s data onto a 3.62 GHz carrier has been achieved, as well as two channel operation at 2×200 MBit/s. The transmission of an SCM channel at a carrier frequency approximately 2.5 times the fibre bandwidth has also been demonstrated
