Abstract
Lignin are the raw materials for the production of various value-added products. In this work, we report on a novel residual lignin isolation method for fermentation residue of corn stover. We discuss the effect of HCl concentration upon the yield and purity of the isolated lignin. Under the optimized condition, the fermentation residue was extracted by dioxane-water(85:15) with HCl concentration of 0.05 mol/L for 2 h. Additionally, the isolated lignin was characterized by UV and FTIR. It turns out that lignin structural changes are minimized by the low concentration of acid throughout the developed method. The method offers a residual lignin preparation of high purity (91.73%) with a yield of 60.28%.
