Abstract
This paper provides a vision for intelligent HVAC&R equipment that after many years of unfulfilled promise seems closer to reality. The paper describes some enabling technologies and incentives that are driving the development of embedded intelligence for HVAC&R equipment and then provides examples of some specific developments of intelligent servicing and control algorithms.
