Abstract
This paper proposes a leaky-wave antenna constructed by a composite right/left transmission line (CRLH-TL) based on conductor-backed coplanar strips. This CRLH-TL does not need via for realizing a shunt inductor and also can easily satisfy the balanced condition required for antenna application. As an example, the authors design the antenna at the X band and verify its usefulness numerically and experimentally
