  • Abstract
The magnetic flux leakage (MFL) technique is a viable approach to the non-destructive evaluation of pipelines. But the MFL data is large. In order to save the storage space of the MFL data and regain the MFL data without distortion in the later analysis, the data must be compressed in a lossless compression way. In this paper, the application of Context Tree Weighting (CTW) in MFL data compression was introduced. CTW is a lossless compression which has a very high compression ratio, especially for the txt file. Through the comparison with the Lempel Ziv Welch (LZW), finding that CTW has a more higher compression efficiency.
