Abstract :
Microwave dielectric properties in the system Ba(Mg1-x/3Nix/3Ta2/3)O3 -yBaZrO3 or Ba(Mg1-x/3Nix/3Ta2/3)O3 -zBaSnO3 were investigated with an emphasis on the sintering behavior, phase relations and microstructure-property relationships. The increase of Q value of 13000 at 6 GHz while achieving zero τf occurred when y=0.05. The addition of excess MgO had a detrimental effect on Q value improvement, which is attributable to the segregation of excess MgO along grain boundaries. The appearance of Ba1/2TaO3 second phase would have negative effect on the improvement of and value. Therefore, the fabrication of ceramics without any second phase should be crucial in obtaining improved microwave performance
