Abstract :
This paper presents a design and performance evaluation of a multicast asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch in the presence of video traffic. The design allows sorting of packets which lose contention for an output port, and also allows priority of video traffic within the switch. The video traffic model used is for video teleconferencing and is developed from the autoregressive model of variable bit rate (VBR) traffic. This is derived from a conditional replenishment video coding algorithm. Different buffer arrangements are examined to determine the optimal solution for integrated traffic
