Abstract
The NEMA equipment subcommittee is in the process of investigating several different magnet wire testing procedures and will be proposing and issuing some of these revisions to MW-1000-1993 in the near future. This paper highlights four of the magnet wire tests being addressed by this subcommittee. They are: (1) high voltage continuity testing using a carbonized foam electrode; (2) dry-out procedures for retesting dielectric breakdown and high voltage continuity; (3) a solderability holder for testing fine wire; and (4) test weights for evaluating thermoplastic flow for a range of copper magnet wire sizes
