Abstract
As part of an interactive software toolkit for the processing of echocardiographic images, a technique for LV boundary detection in static cardiac images is described. It is shown how further development using deformable contours can lead to a more flexible system for dynamic analysis of image sequences across the cardiac cycle. The practical implications of different approaches to implementation are discussed and evaluated
