Abstract
We propose and demonstrate a spot-size reducing fiber tip for the first time. The reducer promises low-loss coupling between standard single-mode fibers and various waveguides, such as dispersion compensated fibers, erbium-doped fibers, and planar waveguides having small spot diameters
