Abstract :
This paper discusses the elements of high frequency power losses in transformers and how they can be measured. It is shown how the Foucault/Steinmetz approach is used to extract eddy current and hysteresis losses from total power loss measurements, using a decaying damped wave. A spreadsheet with curves discloses wire size and core biasing effects
