  • Abstract
Each hydro-power station is equipped with a protection system, that intervenes in the case of a breakdown of the equipments, to protect the personnel and the aggregates of the power plant. One of the base components of a hydro-power station is the forced pipeline, which allows admission of water from the reservoir to the turbine-generator groups. For the protection of the forced pipeline one or two special valves-butterfly valves-are installed, that have the purpose of allowing the admission of water to the groups and to cut-of the water flow in special conditions. In the present paper we present the solution used for a power plant fitted with two butterfly valves on the forced pipeline and the implemented control system. The butterfly valves and the supervisory, control and protective system are housed in a special chamber “Valve´s house”. The role of the system is to allow the waterflow to the generators, by keeping those valves opened (0-5 degrees) and also to avoid the flood of underground power station in the eventuality of: destruction of power channel; destruction of diversion channel or any major malfunction to the hydro-generators groups.
