  • Abstract
The dynamic frequency shift of optical pulses due to optically induced acoustic excitation in optical fibers is evaluated by a time-domain resolution technique using copropagating pump and probe signals. We have observed an acoustic wave response duration of about 100 ns which is in good agreement with the theoretical model reported by Dianov. We have also pointed out several limiting parameters for this measurement such as the stimulated Raman effect
