Abstract :
Microwave ovens are potential interference sources to personal wireless systems, such as wireless LAN and Bluetooth, widely used in a domestic environment. Hence, effects of indoor multi-path propagation are investigated on the electromagnetic noises emitted from microwave ovens in the 2.4 GHz band. Theoretical and experimental analyses are conducted employing a time-domain model of the microwave oven noise. The results indicate that the multi-path propagation generally emphasizes an oven noise as compared with a CW signal, especially in wide band wireless systems, which may deteriorate the link quality more seriously.
