Urbanization is the both the result of the social and economic development and the essential trend of history. The time of beginning of urbanization of China is later than that of European countries, which started in late period of 19th century. Until now, the speed of urbanization is slow and the development is imbalanced in China. Nowadays, the urbanization of China is in the period of acceleration. As a result, the urban construction of towns change everyday and many people will transfer to towns now and in the future. So, the choice of characteristic road of urbanization has great significance. The relevant research is not only the academic research, but also the necessary way to carry out the scientific outlook on development. Based on the specific status of small towns in the system of residential area, the road of urbanization of big, middle and small cities and small towns should develop harmoniously is put forward from the main viewpoints of the road of urbanization.
