Abstract
The shear strength characteristics of two representative kinds of soils from Shanghai soft soil strata in original state, freeze-thaw and secondary freeze-thaw state were tested in laboratory, and the results were analyzed. The changing characteristics of cohesion and internal friction angle were found. The different effects of second freeze-thaw cycles on the two kinds of soil were gained. The results proved valuable reference to the design of freezing works in Shanghai.
