Abstract
In this study, modeling and simulation of an efficiency optimization scheme for a real electric vehicle (EV) drive system was presented. Dynamic models were proposed for the motor, propulsion inverter, battery system and for all the components of the control system. Two vector control power drive configurations, namely rotor flux orientation and direct torque and flux control, were described and simulated. The mechanism of loss production in vector drives was analyzed in detail. The fuzzy set theory was briefly reviewed and used in the implementation of a minimum search system. This system was further used as an efficiency optimizer for the two drive systems
