Abstract :
Zerotree based methods provide some of the best image compression currently available in terms of rate-distortion. They are however susceptible to any errors which may be introduced by wireless transmission. We consider three methods of enhancing the resilience of the popular Said and Pearlman (see IEEE Trans. Image Processing, vol.6, no.10, p.1436-41, 1997) zerotree image compression algorithm. One method has been previously proposed by Creusere (see IEEE Trans. on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, vol.6, no.3, p.243-50, 1996), which we include for reference. We then include two solutions of our own based upon the error resilient entropy code (EREC)
