Abstract
In this study the fields of periodical arrangements of longitudinally directed dipole particles are considered. The dipoles, which may be small wire antennas or small thin longitudinal dielectric ellipsoids, are positioned periodically along a straight line to form an array of dipoles which is infinitely long. An analytical solution for waves propagating along this infinite line of dipoles is given. The mutual coupling of dipoles is taken into account with an analytical expression. In this structure both radiated and guided-wave solutions are possible depending on the properties of the dipole scatterers. This kind of structure can be used as a leaky wave line antenna
