Abstract :
Single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) is a technique that performs single carrier modulation has recently drawn much attention as an alternative to OFDMA in 4G. It has been implemented successfully for uplink communication in 3GPP Long Term Evolution. But it is more sensitive to high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) incurred in transmitted signal. Thus focused much attention to the methods for reduction of PAPR. This paper proposes a new approach to overcome the problem of PAPR using Reduced Maximum Complexity Max Norm Algorithm (RCMN) for SC-FDMA signal. As this approach doesn´t require transmission of SI (side information) to receiver, it is bandwidth efficient. This method avoids the Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) and additional Inverse Fast-Fourier Transform (IFFT) implementation. Hence, the system offers low computational and phase search complexity. This paper demonstrates that implementation of RCMN algorithm in LTE SC-FDMA results in good PAPR optimization with less bandwidth requirement and low computational complexity as compared to other conventional methods like SLM (Selective Level Mapping) technique.
