Abstract
China has done much to promote Earth observation to serve civilian applications by developing its own satellite and adopting international satellite resources. Through the effort of scientists and engineers in the past over twenty years, a lot of achievements of remote sensing applications in many fields have been obtained with the support of the Chinese government. Some of the applications are close to operational which is working for the development of the economic construction of China. But to fully serve the development of the economic construction there is still much effort needed to be done to bridge the knowledge gap between standard products and information in order to provide the consumers with valuable information in an operational way on a daily basis.
