Abstract
Nano montmorillonite was treated by different chemical methods, and the nano particle modified wood-plastic composites were prepared by compression molding process, the effect of nano montmorillonite loading on the mechanical properties of the composites was investigated. The results show that, proper amount of nano montmorillonite can improve the tensile, flexural and impact properties of the composites, when nano montmorillonite is organized with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, the tenisle properties of the composites except for the elongation at break can be furthermore improved, while the composites will have the best flexural and impact properties when the organicized nano particles are treated with coupling agent. The maximum increases of tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus and impact strength of nano particle modified WPCs are by 102.72%,179.76%,150.35%,47.02% and 110.71% compared to those of neat WPC respectively.
