Abstract
Recently, e-learning platforms have been used in afterschool tutoring programs for rural schools in Taiwan. This study investigated the effects of applying one-on-one online tutoring in an afterschool program in an elementary school. The program of tutoring the subject of language arts lasted for 14 weeks. Ten tutees participated in this program. A questionnaire was administered to the tutee to gain their perspectives of the effects of online learning. This study finds students showed positive attitudes toward online tutoring, they achieved good academic performance, and they appreciated the tutors´ help. The study offers pedagogical suggestions for researchers who are interested in researching this topic.
