Abstract
This paper presents a point location approach in 3D structured grid vector field. The use of this approach in streamline and stream surface generation is discussed. Many existing methods are based on regular grid field. Constructing streamlines and stream surface in structured grid field is more complicated. The main difficulties are the location of an arbitrary point and the interpolation in irregular cells. We use structured-point to represent the position of a point and the relationship with its surrounding faces. The point location is made directly in physical space. This method does not need extra memory expense and preprocessing. The implementation and results are also discussed
