Abstract :
The DC-link bus capacitors after the input rectifier in inverter-powered systems are often chosen to meet the high ripple current requirements, and consequently, larger, more expensive capacitors with more capacitance than needed get designed into systems. This paper shows how a new electrolyte for the aluminum electrolytic bus capacitors can eliminate the need for extra capacitance and reduce the capacitor count by 50%.
