Abstract :
A practical optimum design method, using the genetic algorithm, for the fabrication of a broadband single-layer electromagnetic (EM) wave observer at C and X-band is presented. This layer is a magnetic layer and has both dielectric and magnetic attenuation, so we have five parameters for optimization. These parameters are the real and imaginery parts of the complex relative permittivity (/spl epsi/´/sub r/, /spl epsi/´´/sub r/) and permeability (/spl mu/´/sub r/, u´´/sub r/), and finally the thickness of the material. We also investigate the effect of the fabrication errors such as thickness, relative permeability and permittivity on the behaviour of the attenuation characteristics of the absorber, and also we try a proper design of the optimum point, to reduce these effects as much as possible.
