Abstract :
Inverse scattering is popular for remote sensing, nondestructive testing, medical imaging, etc. Diffraction tomography and the Born iterative method based on the Born approximation give good reconstruction results for a low-contrast object. For a high-contrast object, iterative inversion is widely used. It is important to know the center and the size of a dielectric cylinder in inverse scattering, especially iterative inversion. We show that the center and the size of a dielectric cylinder may be related to the number of effective angular modes from the angular mode representation of scattered fields. We propose a method estimating the center and the size of a dielectric cylinder by using the effective angular modes.
