Abstract
Today, the digital divide originated by the unequal coverage of regions by terrestrial broadband solutions (xDSL, cable, optic fiber, etc) remains unfortunately an unsolved issue in a number of areas in Europe. Many regional, national and European policies have been defined in order to enable equal access to broadband communications for all citizens in all territories. The present article describes the activities carried out in the framework of the OURSES project that contributes to the development of the Information Society in accordance to these policies by addressing in particular the context of e-health assistance platforms and the satellite and wireless technologies.
