Abstract
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are needed for high-ripple current applications. Rapid charge and discharge load and high-ripple load applications can result in unacceptable temperature rise. This heat generation is initiated by energy dissipation from the anodic electrode due to dielectric loss. Deterioration of the dielectric accelerates, resulting in an increase in leakage current. The new Nippon Chemi-Con power capacitor series uses a newly developed anode foil and electrolyte that is designed for both higher ripple current performance and higher temperature operation
