This paper addresses issues concerning the ownership and protection of technology stemming from joint ventures with particular emphasis on joint ventures between the private sector and universities. Also, a discussion of some of the intellectual property rights available to protect technology and the effects that certain activities may have on the ability to secure these intellectual property rights, are presented
