Vocabulary learning has long been one of the most difficult areas for Chinese students in English learning. They spend a lot of time in memorizing words, but are still frustrated by those problems caused by vocabulary in listening, speaking, reading and writing. In recent years, researchers have investigated the factors that affect vocabulary learning, especially vocabulary learning strategies, and made some achievements. However, most of those researches are confined in specific strategies or regarding undergraduates as investigation subjects. Thus it is of necessity to research into learning strategies employed by postgraduates of non-English majors. With the help of questionnaire and SPSS, this paper revealed the beliefs and the overall pattern of learning strategies used by postgraduates of non-English majors. In addition, pedagogical implications of the research were put forward as well.
