Abstract
A simple mechanical construction and wide tuning range, narrow gap reentrant cylindrical cavities were originally investigated during the development years of the klystron. The present paper examines how the resonance frequency f0 and the electrical Q factor relate to the geometrical shape of the coaxial insert.
