Abstract :
In the modern electrical system and digital television technology, such as communication message, image processing, video and audio frequency signal processing systems, there are often real-time and flexible requirements for meet the demand for the two aspects in the same time. Along with the development of PLD device and EDA technology, the advantages in the performance, cost, flexibility and power consumption had been highlighted the signal processors based on FPGAs have been applied to various signal processing fields. Digital filter is one of the important contents of digital signal process. With its good characteristic of frequency selection in lower order in comparison with FIR, IIR digital filter is widely applied in modern signal processing systems. This paper presents the design and realization of IIR filter based on FPGA. It firstly introduces the application of IIR filter in digital television technology, then describes the basic principle and design of IIR filter, also the elementary knowledge of FPGA. Thirdly, according to the characteristic of basic framework of IIR filters, studied the design of IIR filter connected in serial based on FPGA. Furthermore, make the design and simulation come true on platform of Xilinx´s ISE and Modelsim software.
