  • Abstract
Most previous research on information assurance (IA) for deployed tactical microsensor networks focused on either the traditional "computer security" threats (e.g., masquerade, eavesdropping, unauthorized access, corruption/loss of information, repudiation, forgery and denial-of-service) or traditional communications concerns such as low probability of exploitation (LPE) waveforms and anti-jam (AJ) margin. This research took a total-systems approach to IA and also considered nontraditional IA metrics such as availability, reliability and maintainability. Another important IA problem was the detection of adversarial movement/spoofing of unattended ground sensors. This position paper presents an overview of that IA analysis, and the newly emerging technologies that address the important IA vulnerabilities specific to wireless microsensor networks.
