Abstract
City management is an important object of historical geography research. The market town is the important part of the city. Town system as the primary framework of the urban system has its own development process. The development of market town makes the urban system more perfecting and complex. In the course of urbanization, the town plays an important role, which is the core and hub of rural urbanization. The town development differences are significant in the different historical period of different regions. The market town is developing rapidly in Jiangnan (south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River) and the pearl river delta region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, urban factors of market town displayed obviously. As a geographical entity, the market town had unique process of evolution and landscape change.
