Abstract
DENSO is developing manufacturing systems to meet the advanced and various needs of automation. The development is based on two axes. One axis is the rationalization axis, and we aimed to develop spot, line, area, cube and networked automation systems. Another axis is the flexibility axis, and we aimed to develop single-product, multi-product, multi-generation and fluctuation-adaptive automation systems. In the process of the automation development, the manufacturing system of DENSO has evolved from a mechanical automation system to a robot automation system, and then a fluctuation-adaptive automation system with a mobile robot. We describe DENSO´s activity in automation system development
