Abstract
This paper describes a new approach for creating custom and innovative concepts of a total hip prosthesis. The custom concept needs big development between surgeons and designers in order to augment the life of prosthesis. The new design is obtained after long investigation and starts from the design of a new implant, by using CAD environment and real patient bones. The new design incorporate a specific geometrical feature in the prosthesis and specific solution to assemblies this prosthesis for different configuration of patients. This feature was employed to create different angles in the same prosthesis. The proposed approach is performed in two main steps: first, constructing the CAD model of the hip joint using reverse engineering techniques; second, developing an appropriate total hip prosthesis design using the powerful "TRIZ" theory.
