Abstract
Stability analysis for the transmission of electron beam through a double-periodic permanent magnet focusing structure was carried out. Introduction of controlled amount of third harmonic axial magnetic field in the double-periodic focusing scheme could open up the first stop-band and coalesce the first and the second pass bands, thereby extending the range of stable parametric regime. The efficacy of the analysis also was shown in particular for a TWT.
