  • Abstract
Kappa networks, and the equivalent balanced gamma networks, are based on 4×4 switching elements, which feature superior performance and fault tolerance than replicated and dilated banyan networks of comparable hardware complexity. The performance of kappa networks under non-uniform traffic-hot-spot traffic and community of interest traffic-is studied here using simulation trials. Enlarged networks are proposed as alternatives for replicated networks. It is shown that the performance of enlarged networks is better than that of replicated networks
