Abstract
The efficiency of induction systems is critically dependant on the electrical and magnetic properties of the load. However, since these change dramatically as the temperature passes through the Curie point, induction heaters are usually designed to deliver maximum power into the load either before or after this point. This paper shows that dynamic control of the workhead impedance is possible, to better match the workhead to the inverter, both before and after the work-piece passes through its Curie temperature. This, therefore, improves the power delivery to the load, and dramatically decreases the time taken for the load to reach a required temperature
