Abstract :
A method for soft-reclosing of fault current limiters (FCLs) is described, which serves to reduce peak currents and stresses on machines when reclosing synchronous generators into an energized power bus and avoid mis-tripping of circuit breakers. This method depends only on local current measurements and is realized by timed closing of parallel switches that are part of the fault current limiter. This soft-reclosing method has been analyzed and verified by simulations. There are reduced currents to avoid the mis-tripping of circuit breakers at interbus cable which splits power sharing network. The voltage and frequency performance are not aggravated by applying the soft-reclosing method.
