Abstract
Reliable passive Q-switching of a cladding-pumped Er-Yb fibre laser at 1532-1563 nm has been demonstrated using cobalt-doped ZnS crystal as saturable absorber. High peak powers >10 kW were obtained for ∼2.75 W of absorbed pump power at 915 nm.
