Abstract
Historically, diesel electric submarine (SSK) designs approximate a transit as a straight line from A to B with a regular battery charge/discharge regime. This paper shows that a more detailed view of a transit is required to accurately calculate transit performance and minimize the impact to the overall submarine design.
