Abstract :
We propose a hop-by-hop controller for the flow regulation of the best-effort (ABR) traffic in high-speed networks. The local controller at each switch can regulate the transmission rate based on the knowledge of the buffer occupancy in the down-stream switch. The condition for stability is derived and a simulation in terms of the buffer occupancy is carried out. It is shown that with this controller applied, the network is asymptotically stable without oscillation
