Abstract :
We have proposed a planar lightwave circuit that integrates one AWG and arrays of thermooptic phase shifters to construct a programmable spectral encoder/decoder for the application of optical CDMA communications. High extinction spectral bit patterns, bit weight equalization control, and programmable coding capability can be readily achieved on one monolithically integrated device. The compactness of the proposed device also promises the feasibility of mass-production for the telecommunication industry.
