Abstract
The two-dimensional (2D) Viterbi detector (VD) is the main block responsible for the high complexity of the receiver in two-dimensional optical storage (TwoDOS) systems. We propose techniques to reduce the complexity of 2D VD at the price of tolerable performance loss.
